What does the training process look like?

The Smarty Pets approach to training is customized to meet the needs of individual pet owners. We will start with an intake session to establish your baseline and discuss training goals. From there, the sky is the limit! Whether you are interested in a one-off session or weekly workouts, Smarty Pets is here for you.

What kinds of animals do you work with?

Our training approach is best suited to dogs and cats, simply because those are the species that have been studied the most from a cognitive science perspective. However, we love working with other domesticated species, so feel free to reach out if you have questions about your pet chickens, goats and pigs.

What does it cost to work with Smarty Pets?

We think that pet owners of all income levels should be able to receive high quality training and advice. Intake sessions are a flat rate of $30 and a free consultation phone call is always available if you have questions regarding our services. Once we commit to working together, Smarty Pets works on a sliding scale of $50-$150 per session (generally one hour long). If you love what we do and have the means, please consider paying at the higher end of that scale to offset the costs of another family.
